Travelling Safely for the Holidays

Western's diverse campus community celebrates the Holiday in all kinds of ways, from locations all around the world. Whether you're planning to get on a flight or stay in residence over the holiday season, here are some tips for safe travel.

  • Don't book transportation until you have your final exam schedule. Getting from point A to point B is tough enough without having to reschedule for exam season. Check your schedule out here.
  • If you require transportation to the London or Toronto airport to make it to your holiday destination, check out the subsidized shuttle service being run by the USC. Registration is first come first serve, so get your request in early!
  • If you're visiting somewhere warm over the holidays, be sure to research travel immunization before departing. These services can be accessed by appointment at the London Travel Clinic.
  • Before departing for your destination, always message a friend or family member with your travel details. Whether you are taking the bus, train or arranging a ride with your parents, communicating timelines and modes of transportation can help keep everything moving smoothly.
  • Finally, use accredited travel services. Many informal ride sharing programs exist throughout London, and while these can provide flexibility, they are not formally monitored and present no guarantee to travelers. It is recommended that you pursue accredited providers such as Greyhound and VIA to keep your arrive safe and on time.

Please keep in mind that it is your responsibility to determine what transportation works best for you over the holidays, as Western does not provide specific transportation for residents'. Have a wonderful holiday season from the Residence Life Team!
